Father’s Day is a chance to give back to your dad for everything he does for you. So, why not treat him to the Father’s Day he deserves this year and give him the star treatment? Here are our tips for making his day extra special.
Start the day right with breakfast in bed
To create the perfect day, we need to get off to a strong start – and what better start to the day than a brilliant homemade breakfast? You can’t go wrong with something simple like an omelette, bacon and eggs, or even just some toast done exactly how he likes. To really kick up the relaxation, surprise him by bringing him his breakfast in bed. I’m sure your dad will appreciate a delicious plate delivered to him to kick off the day, all without having to move from his bed!
If your dad is the morning type who’s up at the crack of dawn, why not get him involved instead and make something together? You can then sit around the table (or on the sofa if he’s feeling relaxed!) and enjoy as a family. You can even check out our Father’s Day breakfast recipes to get inspired.
Find the perfect card for him
One important part of Father’s Day is the card. Instead of a boring standard card, give him a card that will make his day by creating a personalised Father’s Day card that perfectly captures his personality. If your dad is the king of bad jokes, look for funny Father’s Day cards that sums up his sense of humour and make it personal by adding his name or photo. Or, if your dad is more of the serious type, why not create a photo upload card featuring a collage of memories throughout the years?
Every person is unique, and you know your dad better than anyone else, so think about his hobbies and his personality and find something that’ll light up his day – and don’t forget to customise with his name or photo and a heartfelt message on the inside!
Make some new memories
So, with breakfast done and your dad feeling sufficiently chuffed, why not use this day to make some new memories that you can look back on fondly in the future? Depending on what your dad enjoys, this can be something simple like exploring somewhere new, whether it’s a park, local attraction, museum or going on a nice walk, or doing a fun family activity like a game night or a movie night with his favourite takeaway.
Or if your dad has green thumbs when it comes to the garden, why not take an interest in his world and plant something together? You can choose a plant that you both like and plant it somewhere special. Then, you’ll be reminded of that memory each time you see it, and you can even add something each Father’s Day and before you know it, you’ll have a beautiful garden of memories.
If you’re not sure, why not try to combine some of your dad’s favourite things? You could do a tasting of a range of beers, coffees, hot sauces, or anything else that your dad loves. However you choose to spend your Father’s Day, the most important thing is to spend time together.
Get him a gift he can treasure
When you think of Father’s Day gifts, what comes to mind? How about a personalised pint glass to enjoy a selection of mixed ales with a photo label? Or, if you normally get your dad socks for Father’s Day, take it up a notch and get him some ‘Best Dad’ socks with his face on them.
If you’re not sure where to start, consider the sort of things that your dad values. If he’s the sentimental type, why not create something personal that he can display around the home to remind him of fond memories? From photo cushions to engraved photo frames, there’s a huge range of options to choose from. You can also think about hobbies or things that your dad enjoys doing and find something practical that he can use. Or, if none of that feels right, see if you can make him laugh with a funny Father’s Day gift.
However you choose to celebrate your Father’s Day, we hope you have an amazing day! It doesn’t matter whether it’s your dad, grandad, or simply someone who’s always there for you, it’s so nice to take some time once in a while to show your family how much you appreciate them. Treasure those moments, and most importantly, have fun! Go out and have a great time and make new memories!
